Best OverallNinja Crispi Glass Air Fryer
$143 at Amazon
Owners who made the switch to the Ninja Crispi consistently report that it has outperformed all previous air fryers I've ever owned, with several noting the glass container workflow as a standout surprise, removing the top and putting a lid on then refrigerating was something I hadn't realized I needed. For those skeptical of air fryers in general, the Crispi proved disarming, with one user admitting they were against purchasing an air fryer because they seemed bulky, hard to clean and not in line with our usual type of cooking before concluding that the Crispi changed everything. Not all feedback is without reservation, as at least one new owner remained uncertain after two weeks, finding that reheat seems to be slow compared to a microwave when trying to replace it entirely. Still, the recurring theme across threads is that its consistency when cooking meat is perfect and the compact footprint makes it a daily driver even for those who already own full-size alternatives.

What holds up

  • Glass cooking chamber is dishwasher-safe and free of nonstick chemical coatings
  • Cooking chamber converts to a sealed food storage container with a rubber lid
  • Can watch food cook in real time without opening the fryer
  • Simple 4-mode controls (warm, reheat, bake, air fry) are easy to use
  • Consistently recommended by both Reddit community and multiple expert review sites

What to know

  • Glass chamber gets and stays very hot during and after cooking, safety risk for households with small children
  • Pricier than most basket-style air fryers at $160-$180
  • No precise temperature control, limited to preset modes
  • Smaller capacity than some competitors
Expert verdict
The Ninja Crispi's glass cooking chamber was the easiest to get squeaky clean of all the air fryers we've tested.

Best Teflon-Free Air Fryer: Ninja Crispi Portable Glass Air Fryer
WIREDView source
From the community
This is my 4th air fryer and by far the best one! Have gone through several ninjas (different models) all of them look like death after a few years despite regular cleaning. I can safely say the crispi will be the exception to the rule because of the glass.
r/airfryerView source
Bottom line ★

The Ninja Crispi earns its place as a daily-use appliance because the glass containers let you cook, refrigerate leftovers, and clean up all in one vessel, a workflow advantage that convinces even full-size air fryer owners to reach for it first.

Best Traditional BasketNinja Air Fryer Max XL
$109 at Amazon
Owners of the Ninja Air Fryer Max XL consistently report it holds up well to heavy use, with one user confirming that I have had the same model for several months and use it daily without meaningful wear. The ceramic-coated basket draws particular appreciation, and the availability of affordable replacement parts reassures buyers that Ninja sells replacement baskets and plates for very reasonable prices compared to the cost of a new unit. New owners do encounter a learning curve, including an initial chemical burn-off smell and uncertainty about features like the basket-pause function, but first impressions tend to land positively, with users calling it amazing straight out of the box. The consensus leans toward the Ninja over competitors, with one comparison thread concluding that if I had to choose, I would choose the Ninja.

What holds up

  • Consistently makes the crispiest, most golden chicken wings of any basket-style air fryer tested
  • Max Crisp and Air Broil settings reach 450°F, higher than most competitors
  • Ceramic nonstick interior has held up well over years of daily use
  • Dishwasher-safe basket and tray for easy cleanup
  • Includes broiling rack for extra browning

What to know

  • 5.5-quart basket diameter is smaller than some competing models
  • Traditional nonstick coating (not glass or ceramic-only like some newer models)
  • Some slight scratching on removable tray noted after long-term use
Expert verdict
The Ninja Air Fryer Max XL remains the top performer in our air fryer tests. It consistently makes the crispiest and most golden chicken wings we've come across in the shortest amount of time.

Over the years, this air fryer has held up to daily use and continues to cook well. It's still one of the best air fryers we've ever tested.

It will not scratch easily. I have had the same model for several months and use it daily. It's a great air fryer and really easy to clean.

Both the entire interior of the basket AND the removable crisp plate are ceramic coated. I have the 6.5qt and love it. also, Ninja sells replacement baskets and plates for very reasonable prices compared to the cost of a new unit. Baskets are 30bucks and plates are 15 bucks.
r/airfryerView source
Bottom line ★

The Ninja Air Fryer Max XL earns its place as a daily-use kitchen workhorse because replacement baskets and crisp plates are available for as little as $15-$30, meaning the unit can be economically maintained for years rather than replaced when normal wear occurs.

Best ValueInstant Vortex Plus ClearCook Air Fryer
$139 at Amazon
Reddit users who went out of their way to compare multiple premium air fryers consistently landed on the ClearCook as their top pick, with one describing a deliberate air fryer journey that included a top-of-the-line Philips and a Ninja before concluding the Instant Vortex ClearCook was the best I've found so far. Practical ownership details reinforced the appeal, as one user noted they regularly do whole chickens in it, works like a charm and runs it underneath some cabinets without heat or clearance problems. Temperature accuracy came up as a specific strength, with a user reporting the ClearCook reaches the temperature I set for it and fast after testing with an oven thermometer. On the durability front, the picture is mixed but Instant's customer service drew genuine praise, with one owner receiving an entire brand new unit even though I'm a year out of warranty after a minor switch failure.

What holds up

  • Clear window with interior light lets you monitor food without opening the fryer
  • Built-in preheat function (rare at this price) reaches 400°F in 3-5 minutes
  • Large 6-quart basket fits 2 lbs of fries or a full batch of wings
  • Dishwasher-safe basket for easy cleanup
  • Halfway-through cooking alert reminds you to shake or flip food

What to know

  • Max temperature is 400°F, lower than some competitors that reach 450°F
  • Removable tray falls out when basket is flipped upside down to transfer food
  • Slightly larger countertop footprint than the Vortex Slim
Expert verdict
Chicken wings came out crispy, golden, and juicy in just 20 minutes, and frozen fries were moist yet crisp and evenly cooked, without needing to shake them midway.

in my air fryer journey, in which I was determined to find 'the best one' without concern for cost, and bought a few different models including a top-of-the-line Philips and a Ninja, the Instant Vortex Clearcook is the best I've found so far.

Bottom line ★

For cooks who want verified temperature accuracy, enough capacity to handle whole chickens, and a company that replaces units out of warranty without argument, the Instant Vortex Plus ClearCook earns its place as the air fryer that serious comparison shoppers keep ending up with.

Best Premium SplurgeTyphur Dome 2
$399 at Amazon
Owners of the Typhur Dome 2 repeatedly highlight the self-cleaning feature as a genuine surprise, with one user stating it was worth losing the space, in my humble opinion and another calling the self-cleaning feature and controlling through the app alone makes it worth the cost. Those pairing it with Typhur's wireless probes report a new level of precision, getting steaks and pork chops cooked to the exact, perfect temp they want. Honest criticism centers squarely on its footprint, with one prospective buyer noting the depth would not leave any counter space in front the air fryer, a real tradeoff that has stopped some from purchasing. Still, users coming from standard basket-style fryers consistently note the step up in cooking evenness and capacity, with one owner reflecting that the additional size in the Typhur is amazing compared to a previous 6-quart model.

What holds up

  • Dual top-and-bottom burners deliver unmatched speed, 24 wings crisped in 14 minutes
  • Massive 5.6-quart basket with 12.6" x 12.6" surface area fits food in a single even layer
  • PFAS-free ceramic nonstick cooking surface
  • Smart app with 50+ recipes that can be queued directly to the machine
  • Self-clean function burns grease off heating elements at 500°F

What to know

  • Expensive at $340-$499
  • Large footprint at nearly 20" wide, takes up significant counter space
  • Weighs 20 pounds, not easy to move around
  • Requires the app to access some of its best features like self-clean
Expert verdict
The Typhur Dome 2 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) looks like a flying saucer from the 1960s and is the most powerful, fastest basket fryer I know.
WIREDView source
Expert verdict
It shaved several minutes from the cook times required for other air fryers to crisp up french fries, chicken breasts, and toasted bread. It requires no preheating, so you can fill the basket with food, lock it into place, and start cooking right away.

Bottom line ★

If you cook for two or more several nights a week and are tired of babysitting uneven results, the Typhur Dome 2's top-and-bottom heating, self-cleaning cycle, and wireless probe integration deliver a genuinely hands-off, consistently precise cook that owners report sustaining daily across months of use.

Best Air Fryer Toaster OvenBreville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro
$399 at Amazon
Owners consistently describe the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro as a genuine oven replacement for daily cooking, with one user noting it basically replaced my big oven for everything except making tons of cookies over three years of use, and another appreciating that my Breville cools off and shuts the fans down in 5 minutes compared to hours for a wall oven. The most repeated honest criticism, however, is that the air frying function falls well short of its billing: multiple users report air frying is a mess and the oven is extremely difficult to clean, with one thorough tester following every recommended technique only to produce what a freaking mess, everything covered in grease. At least one household resolved the contradiction by keeping a dedicated Breville strictly for baking while pairing it with a separate basket air fryer for crisping, a workaround that speaks to how much they value the oven half of the equation even as they abandon the feature the name advertises.

What holds up

  • Replaces toaster oven, air fryer, and nearly a full wall oven for holidays and large batches
  • Preheats fast and maintains precise, honest thermostat temperatures
  • Sleek, consistent design that has held up over years of use
  • Multiple cooking modes: toast, bake, broil, roast, air fry, dehydrate, and more
  • Top pick from both Serious Eats and CNET for air fryer toaster ovens

What to know

  • Expensive at $333-$350
  • Large cooking chamber makes it harder to achieve the same crust as a compact basket air fryer
  • Air fry function not as powerful as dedicated basket-style air fryers
  • Takes up significant counter space
Expert verdict
If you're in the market for an air fryer toaster oven, you can't do better than the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro.

The Breville is wonderful for baking, but air frying is a mess and the oven is extremely difficult to clean. When it came time to replace it, we decided no air frying in it. We ended up with a second Breville solely for baking, and then bought an easy to clean Ninja basket air fryer.
r/airfryerView source
Bottom line ★

If you want a countertop oven that genuinely replaces your wall oven for baking, roasting, and reheating over years of daily use, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro delivers, but go in knowing the air fry function is its weakest link and plan to clean thoroughly or skip it entirely.
