The Amazfit Band 7/Active 2 is the better fitness tracker in almost every measurable way — more sport modes, dramatically longer battery, and a brighter screen for less money. But the Fitbit Inspire 3 wins on one thing that actually matters: accuracy. Wirecutter's testing showed it's the most precise step counter they've tested, and for someone who just wants reliable daily health data without fussing over apps or charging schedules, that simplicity is worth something. The Reddit fitness community has largely moved on from Fitbit, but your parents haven't — and that's exactly who the Inspire 3 is for.
Amazfit has quietly become the best value in fitness tracking — Tom's Guide gave the Band 7 an Editor's Choice
Wirecutter's top pick for most people, the Fitbit Inspire 3 nails the basics — step counting, heart rate, and
The Amazfit's 18-day battery isn't a marketing number to ignore — it fundamentally changes how you use the device. You stop thinking about charging it. The Fitbit Inspire 3 lasts around 10 days in ideal conditions, which is still decent, but the Amazfit makes the Fitbit feel like a phone by comparison. If you've ever taken a tracker off because you forgot to charge it, the Amazfit solves that problem permanently.
This is the core tradeoff. Wirecutter's rigorous testing found the Inspire 3's step counting was only 0.32% off from a calibrated pedometer — that's genuinely impressive. Amazfit's health data is solid but lags behind in controlled accuracy tests. If you're using this data to make real decisions about your health, the Fitbit's numbers are more trustworthy. If you're using it to track workouts and stay motivated, the Amazfit's feature set wins easily.
If you only walk and occasionally jog, this doesn't matter. But if you swim, cycle, do HIIT, or play tennis, the Amazfit tracks it properly while the Inspire 3 mostly shrugs. The Inspire 3 has no built-in GPS at all — you need your phone nearby for route tracking. The Amazfit Active 2 has built-in GPS. For anyone doing structured fitness, that gap is enormous.
Google acquired Fitbit and has been quietly gutting features and killing products. The Fitbit community on Reddit is anxious about this, and it's a legitimate concern — you're buying into an ecosystem that may not exist in three years. Amazfit, backed by Zepp Health, is actively expanding its lineup and has no such cloud hanging over it. The Zepp app isn't as polished as Fitbit's, but at least it's not being slowly dismantled.
