If you're doing real work, framing, concrete, metalwork, this is the drill. Milwaukee's M18 FUEL platform is what pros reach for, and the hammer drill variant handles everything from wood to masonry without breaking a sweat.
What holds up
- Compact at ~7 inches yet powerful enough for 1.5-inch holes in steel and masonry
- AutoStop safety feature reduces injury risk on bind-up
- Includes two batteries so one charges while you work
- Brushless motor runs cooler and lasts longer than brushed alternatives
- 5-year tool warranty, best in class
What to know
- No true variable speed, only two-speed settings
- Doesn't include drill bits
- Premium price compared to budget alternatives
It never hesitated when drilling large holes through wood and concrete.
Plumbers, electricians and other trades that do a lot of metalwork love Milwaukee tools because the powerful tools are great at boring holes and ripping through metal.
As a contractor and tradesman over the last 40 years I started with the Makita 9.6 volt stuff then moved to DeWalt and finally ended up with Milwaukee about 15 years ago with their V18 series. I currently own about 50 Milwaukee M18 and M12 tools and couldn't be happier.
Milwaukee has a lot of power in their motors and more niche tools than Dewalt.
